Felling

Simply as it says, felling is to bring a tree down to ground level or as close as possible. There are a variety of reasons for this process:

  • Dead or dangerous trees may have to come down for safety reasons.
  • Diseased or unhealthy trees may be felled to prevent contamination in surrounding trees, plants etc.
  • Tree may have outgrown its position.
  • Tree maybe causing structural damage whereas the tree may have to come down over a period of 2-3 years to prevent heave.
  • In the event of construction a tree maybe removed because it is simply in the way.

How do we do it?

Sectional Tree Felling

Sectional tree felling is used in situations where there is confined space, risk of damage to property or harm to the public. The work consists of the entire removal of the tree, in sections. Section felled trees are dismantled using conventional cut and free fall techniques, or where more care is needed the use of lowering ropes and rigging systems are applied.

Straight Tree Felling

Straight felling of trees is the removal of trees as a single unit. Straight felling will be limited to such situations that pose no risk of damage to property or injury to persons whatsoever, and also given that adequate space is available. Trees that are to be straight felled will be guided by the use of pulling ropes and felling wedges where necessary to ensure the correct direction of a controlled fall.
